If you’re looking to update your kitchen this fall, it’s a good start to know exactly what’s trending right now. No, we’re not saying you should always design with trends in mind, but popular features can increase the value and marketability of your home. Below are some trending kitchen design trends you’ll see this year:

  1. Larder Cupboards
  2. Handleless Cabinets
  3. Pops of Color
  4. Two-Toned Cabinets
  5. Marble Slab Backsplash
  6. Hidden Appliances

Larder Cupboards

Larder Cupboards, also known as pantry cupboards, are a sleek and minimalistic design feature that we are seeing in new and renovated kitchens. These standalone pantries allow you to keep your pantry essentials in the same room as your kitchen while still maintaining that organized feeling. Who doesn’t need more kitchen storage?

Handleless Cabinets

The minimalist aesthetic continues with handleless cabinets. For buyers and homeowners seeking a sleek design, handleless cabinets are a must. If you’re having trouble finding handleless cabinets, try looking at home design companies like Ikea and Scandinavian Designs.

Pops of Color

For the last few years, completely white kitchens were the hot trend in kitchen design. While a white kitchen is still on-trend, we’re happy to see that pops of color are starting to slowly emerge back into the kitchen space. Designers are adding color to backsplashes, cabinets and even kitchen islands! Another related kitchen trend is the use of natural materials to add that pop of color. Using natural elements as countertop materials often makes your counter space look beautiful and kitchen designers are using mixed materials more and more often.

Two-Toned Cabinets

This trend has been going strong for the last couple of years and this year its more prevalent than ever. Two-toned cabinets are a great design feature that helps add some variety to your kitchen space. You will typically see the bottom cabinets have the darker color. Blues and grays are common, buyer-friendly choices. We also have seen wood-grained cabinets on the bottom with white cabinets on top. Combined with interesting light fixtures, your dream kitchen could look like one of these beautiful kitchens.

Marble Slab Backsplash

We absolutely love this top kitchen trend! Marble slab backsplash is a gorgeous way to create elegant simplicity in your kitchen. Instead of tiling, a large slab is a nice option for minimalists. We’re also seeing that the strains within the marbling is getting bolder with heavier contrasts. It’s truly a work of art!

Marble countertops are also on the rise when it comes to modern kitchen design. Marble lasts for decades if it is properly cared for and fits as a design element in many kitchen styles, including farmhouse style kitchens and industrial style kitchens.

Hidden Appliances

Why see a refrigerator or dishwasher if you don’t have to? As you can see, the kitchen design trends this year are to maintain a streamlined, minimal look. We love how the appliances in the kitchens below blend right in with the cabinetry and we’re glad it’s becoming such a popular choice. And luckily, a lot of cabinet and kitchen design companies offer appliance paneling to match your cabinets.

One thing that is always on trend, a decluttered kitchen. Spend time each year reorganizing your kitchen and removing old items you no longer use.
